Who are you?
I make alternative/indie music that’s usually pretty emotional and guitar-driven. A lot of it comes from overthinking things, holding onto people or memories too long, and trying to make sense of growing up and changing. I’m drawn to music that feels heavy without needing to be loud all the time, so I naturally lean into washed-out guitars, tension, and atmosphere.
North Shy started as bedroom pop stuff I was making in my room, but over time it turned into something darker and more raw. I still do everything independently, including most of the visuals and creative direction, so the project feels really personal to me.
Where are you from?
I’m from Lafayette, Indiana. The music scene here is pretty small and there’s not really a strong alternative scene around, so a lot of what I’ve built with North Shy has come from doing things independently and finding community online instead. In a weird way, that isolation shaped the project. A lot of the music comes from feeling disconnected, restless, and wanting something bigger than where I’m from.
